Certification Scheme
  1. Candidate needs to have interest and attention in financial modeling or involved in a professional engagement or to process, develop, use or make a decision based on financial modeling.
  2. Candidate must have Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  3. If the Candidate does not have Bachelor’s Degree, the Candidate must be at least a Senior High School graduate with a minimum of two years of professional working experience. There is no limitation on industry or job role for the working experience. However, the experience must be a full-time professional occupation.
  4. The Candidate must have sufficient comprehension of written English as examination information on the Website, documents, and the examination materials are presented in the English language.
  5. The Candidate must be able to operate a computer or laptop with Windows operating system. The Candidate must be proficient in preparing corporate financial models using spreadsheet applications or other software as determined for a specific examination. The spreadsheet used in the examination is the Spreadsheet application of Libre Office.
  6. Candidates need to have the ability to see well, should not be blind, be able to use the computer independently.
  7. A candidate who does not have a bachelor degree or not taking an undergraduate program is eligible to obtain PFM Designation if the participant at a minimum has acquired 2 years of working experience.
  8. A candidate who does not have a bachelor degree and currently takes undergraduate program may participate in the certification process to obtain PFM Designation, and if he/she passes the PFM examination, his/her PFM designation will be awarded after the Candidate has graduated. Candidate must provide evidence on the graduation.
  9. Candidate must possess basic knowledge and understanding in regards to common accounting and finance practices.
  10. The Candidate must be able to operate a computer or laptop with Windows operating system. The Candidate must be proficient in preparing corporate financial models using spreadsheet applications or other software as determined for a specific examination. The spreadsheet used in the examination is the Spreadsheet application of Libre Office. Candidates need to have the ability to see well, should not be blind, and be able to use the computer independently.
  11. For taking the examination in certain test centers, the candidate is required to bring computer / laptop with active Computer-based spreadsheet programs such as Excel, Open Office or similar spreadsheet software and make sure it is free from computer virus and/or another malicious software / program.
  12. The candidate may attend the PFM Preparatory Training / Program delivered by IFMI LTP to enhance knowledge and obtain a better understanding of PFM Curriculum. The candidate may choose to sit in directly in PFM Examination without attending preparatory programs.
  13. Candidate only can obtain PFM designation after passing all examination modules.
  14. Create a profile account on the Ourtoga website and have submitted in full all the required documents in the PFM certification as follows: CV, Professional Photo of yourself, ID card issued by the Government, and other document as requested by IFMI.
  1. Provide accurate and updated account profiles and submit required documents
  2. Uphold the integrity, transparency, and accountability in professional conduct and refrain from conducting illegal, fraudulent activities or anything that may purposively cause harm and/or loss to others
  3. Uphold and maintain the integrity, transparency, and accountability of PFM Examination
  4. When attending the PFM Examination, a candidate needs to ensure that the candidate has made proper preparation for taking the examination
Required to submit the required documents in softcopy (in the.doc or .pdf format), as follows:
  1. Government-issued identity card or Passport with Candidate photo.
  2. Close-up professional photograph of the Candidate.
  3. Curriculum Vitae of the Candidate written in English.
  4. Highest academic certificate.

The Candidate login to his/her account on the Ourtoga and then selects the PFM Certification program to register for the examination dates and locations from the list available. The Candidate must complete payment for the PFM Examination before taking the exam.

The Candidate is required to sign an agreement to register and take the PFM examination.

The Candidate is required to read and keep on self-update on the terms and conditions and privacy policy of the PFM website and Ourtoga website and the requirements and standards of the PFM Certification Scheme and other related requirements set forth by any third party service providing service regarding PFM Program.

  1. Provide accurate and updated account profiles and submit required documents periodically as required.
  2. Uphold the integrity, transparency, and accountability in professional conduct and refrain from conducting illegal, fraudulent activities or anything that may purposively cause harm and/or loss to others.
  3. Complete the competency monitoring survey and Recertification program every three years.
  4. The Certificate belongs to IFMI, and the Certified Person must return the Certificate to IFMI when requested.
PFM Examination is an online computer-based examination using the Ourtoga Secure Examination System (OSES). The Candidate is required to be ready with the standard arrangement as guided in the PFM Examination Standard Guideline to enable and allowed to participate in the examination, among others, as follows:
  1. Download and install the OSES in the computer that meets the minimum required specification, has a camera installed, and can access the internet.
  2. Arrange the exam location as private, has a good internet connection, and the seating position arranged as guided.
  3. Provide additional Mobilephone with Zoom™ application installed, the camera turned on, and sufficient batre as it must always stays on during the examination.
The Candidate is required to maintain exam integrity and always follow the Exam Supervisor’s instructions.
Note: A candidate can take PFM Examination with or without taking any preparation program conducted by training providers.

A candidate who fails the PFM exam may retake the exam. The Candidate only needs to retake the module that he/she has failed.

To register for retaking the PFM examination, the Candidate is required to log in to his/her account from the PFM website or directly to the exam platform.

IFMI makes no guarantee that the candidate who has attended the Retake Examination that the candidate will pass the Examination.

The Candidate must complete the registration and complete the payment for the exam retake. There is no limit on how many times a candidate may retake. There is no requirement to attend any training to retake. The PFM examination result record is kept indefinitely, and the Candidate can decide to retake it at any time. However, a candidate can no longer retake if there is a major change in the PFM Examination scheme in the future. In that case, the Candidate must attend the whole examination from the beginning.

A candidate may also retake other available examination locations when possible.

Note: IFMI makes no guarantee that candidate who has attended Retake Examination that the candidate will pass the Examination.

The registered Candidate may submit a request to postpone his/her examination at the latest seven days before the scheduled exam date. The postponement allows the candidate to register for a scheduled examination at the latest one year from the postponed exam date.

IFMI may require the candidate to submit the postponement fee. The Candidate is required to submit an additional examination fee should there is an exam fee adjustment or to participate in another schedule/location that has a higher exam fee.

Note: This procedure applies when a candidate decides to postpone examination due to any personal reason. The Candidate is obliged to pay postponement of USD 100.

If a candidate feels that the scoring he/she receives does not reflect his real result, the Candidate can choose to submit an appeal on PFM Website. By appealing, the Candidate will have his examination results regraded. The result of the appeal is final. Appeal requests only can be submitted once for every examination taken. The submission of the Appeal requests is limited to the latest 30 days after the exam result is announced. There is a fee payable for appealing.

If a candidate has a reservation regarding the examination and grading process, the Candidate can submit a complaint by providing valid proof to support the complaint. The complaint will be processed and responded to within the time limit.

Note: Candidate or certified person may have issues in regards with PFM program, the conduct of IFMI personnel or any other issues. Candidate can submit complaint to IFMI.

A person may also withdraw from PFM Certification. The withdrawal request is valid after the Certified Person settles the outstanding obligation to IFMI and IFMI issues withdrawal confirmation. All obligations to IFMI must be settled before a withdrawal is effective.

Note: Due to personal reason, certified person or his/her request may request for withdrawal of certifying due to personal reasons. Withdrawal of certificate must follow the procedure. After withdrawal, the person cannot request for reactivation. a certified person with the withdrawn certificate is no longer need to recertify or paying fees.

All PFM Designation holder is required to comply with IFMI rules and regulation. Failure to comply with IFMI rules and regulations may cause the certified person to receive sanctions from IFMI. Certificate suspension will also be applied if a person cannot meet the recertification requirements.

The person may reactivate the suspended certificate by following certain procedures. IFMI may request additional information or document and request the designated certified person to do certain activities to support the review of the reactivation request.

Note: Reactivation is a process to re-activate a certified person whose certificate is suspended or whose certificate is withdrawn voluntarily.
To ensure that the certification of a certified person remains active, the person must conduct a periodic Recertification Program every 3 (three) years. The PFM Recertification scheme uses “Continuous Proficiency Development” points (or CPD points) to ensure the Certified Person’s eligibility to continue to use the PFM Designation. The Certified Person needs to claim 100 CPD points to be eligible for successful recertification. After IFMI has approved the recertification request, IFMI will issue a new PFM Certificate with an extended expiration date of three years from the existing certificate expiration date.
Note: PFM Recertification is obtained through the Mandatory Recertification Process and Optional Recertification Process (only when requested by IFMI) every three years. Certified Person who is not able to complete the recertification within the allotted time will have his/her Certificate Suspended and can not enjoy the benefit as PFM Certified Person including not allowed to use the PFM Designation.
