PFM Examination

The PFM Exam is a full day exam consists of a pencil and paper or computer based multiple choice exam (depending on the setting for each examination center) and a computer based exam given as a single level examination. The exam is delivered is English language. However, for essay question in Computer Practice Exam, the exam participants may answer in other language as they prefer and the exam grader will use publicly available translation software to translate the text into English for grading purpose.Note that due software related limitation, the translation from a language to another may not portray the intended meaning. In such case, grader will refer to the translated version of the text for grading.

PFM Exam is a seven and half hour long exam consists of multiple choice and Computer Practice Examination. Multiple choice exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions which must be completed in 2.5 (two and half) hours and computer practice examination consists of 1 question which must be answered by preparing full set financial model in the form of spreadsheet in 5 (five) hours.

Schedule on the examination is as follows:

  • Multiple Choice Examination (150 minute – 2.5 hours )
  • Computer Practice Examination (300 minute – 5 hours)

There are no penalties for incorrect answers.

In order to obtain PFM Designation, candidate must pass both examination. Candidates who fail on exam may retake the exam. They only need to take the module which they have failed. Candidates are given three times to retake exam. If Participant fails on the fourth examination, participant needs to sit again in PFM preparatory training.

IFMI will send Exam Result Notification via email to each participant within 2 or 3 months after Examination. Participant is provided with quartile result achieved for each of the two sessions.

The breakdown of the quartile is as follows :

Quartile I : Scoring 80% - 100%

Quartile II : Scoring 60% - 79%

Quartile III : Scoring 30% - 59%

Quartile IV : Scoring 0% - 29%

Candidate needs to obtain minimum score of 60 in both modules (Multiple Choice and Computer Practice Examination) in order to pass the exam. The scoring methodology is the proprietary of IFMI and will not be disclosed to public.

IFMI will send Exam Result Notification via email to each participant within 2 or 3 months after Examination.

In order to attend PFM Examination, Candidates must upload the following documents in their personal accounts in PFM platform :

  1. Valid Identity Card
  2. Photo
  3. Latest Curriculum Vitae
